      I interviewed at Business Insider

      Interview

The interview process started with a phone call, which was pleasant enough. The interviewer was easy to talk to and asked relevant questions that never felt like curveballs. The next step was an editing test, which didn't offer enough time for how much work the final portion needed. Following this, I didn't hear back for weeks, was brushed off upon following up, and finally received a robotic rejection email with zero insight into why the decision was made. Considering I was qualified for the role and put time and effort into the process, it was disappointing. Judging by other reviews, this treatment seems to be the norm though.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The interviewer asked why I was interested in the position, why I left my last role, how I'd go about sourcing pitches, whether the shift to lifestyle content would be alright with me, etc.
