Essentially, this experience was an unsolicited resume critique and criticism session in the guise of an interview invitation. I applied for this position on a job board and the recruiter contacted me. It's important to note: She could have sent me a rejection letter, she could have ignored my application completely, but she contacted ME. Writing verbatim, “Your resume looks great and I would be happy to discuss this opportunity with you.” Imagine my surprise when we spoke on the phone and she interrogated me about my resume like she thought I was lying, spoke to me condescendingly (essentially speaking to me like she knew more about my last position and experiences than I did), and then told me I wasn’t a good fit for the role. I'm sorry..WHY exactly was I contacted for this? She also suggested that I go back to school and told me that I wouldn't get the salary I was looking for with my experience...despite being paid that salary at my last job. I could not tell whether she thought I was at least 15+ years younger than I am or if she just has a generally disdainful demeanor. Regardless, It was a disappointing waste of time.
