Job opportunity came through networking at professional conference. Met senior manager in related field at conference, had lunch with him and eventually sent in my resume. Received a call from a manager on the other side of the country about a job opportunity and to do an initial, and very coarse screening, mostly based on my interest in the particular region of the country. For document control purposes he asked me to apply via the website prior to my actual interview. Was flown out for the interview early in the morning, had 6 or 7 interviews with various people in the office and was free to explore the city that evening. I was given a stipend and one night in a beautiful hotel.
Although the company has several thousand employees, office sizes range dramatically throughout the world. The office I worked in had ~50 full time employees.
