      Benefits Enroller/Customer Service Interview

      23 Oct 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Greensboro, NC
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at CRISP Agency (Greensboro, NC) in Sept 2018

      Interview

They contacted me about the position, I didn't apply for it. Once I arrived, they gathered me and several others in a room, and showed us a presentation which basically tried to sell us on the company and the job - promises of how much money we'd be able to make, and opportunities for advancement. It felt like they were trying to get us to take the job, rather than us trying to get them to give us the job. As it turns out, this is a Multi-level Marketing Strategy business, i.e. a "pyramid scheme." They promise that it will essentially be the best job ever, on the condition that you are 'willing to work,' but yet have an enormously high turnover rate. The one presenting to us even joked about being 'married to his job,' which didn't sell me on the position either. It is a 2-day interview process, so the first day they try to convince you that it's an amazing opportunity, and then the second day if you're still interested they have a 1-on-1 interview, and hire you immediately if you're amenable. It seems like an easy-to-get job. There are fees they charge you for training, and then you have to take the state exam to get licensed to be an insurance agent. Ah yes, this company is a branch of AIL, American Income Life, something which wasn't made clear at all until I arrived at the company for an interview. This is a salesman position. In order to advance in the company, you are expected to meet certain quotas in regards to sales, and to enroll your own friends and family as a condition of advancement. I think that there is money to be made there, but I'm not willing to do what that would require. Oh, and you get no pay if you don't make sales, after an initial training/probationary period. So totally a commissions/sales position.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me things like "What is your dream?" It didn't feel like they really had any tough questions, they take people from any career with no prior experience, so it's more about whether you're willing to work there or not.
