      Regional Sales Manager Interview

      20 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kansas City, MO
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7+ months. I interviewed at CST Industries (Kansas City, MO) in Aug 2022

      Interview

      1. Microsoft Teams Interview-The person who'd I'd report to directly- This, was shook the whole process up to not give them neutral Grade. The interview went very well on many regards, but I found out during the interview this is his first Commercial Role. So, he'd at that time been with CST Industries, Inc. for like a few months. So, this was his first time in the Commercial side of Business. The interview went nearly 90 minutes, and he stated he'd be moving me to the next step in process. 2. Group Panel Interview- So, he had his team of 3 people and himself. - Well, this was the worst run Group Panel Interview I've been apart of in my 16+ years in Sales. 30 minutes- I mean I thought I that time was a typo and for good reason. I had no chance with the time it was scheduled for and the fact I knew when I was cut off of the interview at 32 minutes. RED FLAG! I knew they already had someone they either made an offer too, or were already set on someone else. Well, I was Spot On that was the case.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

90 Minutes of many Q&A's with the person who I'd report to. What, he knew as it's in my CL, and CV in my Core Competencies is I get results. That's fine! Commercial World is a whole new beast and I love the products the company offers, but the reason for the negative experience was the layout and time for the Group Panel Interview.

      Question 2

The Group Panel Interview that was 30 minutes in length. That's not nearly enough time for the quantity of questions I received. They need to adjust or change the Group Panel set up to a longer length. It's not that the questions weren't fine, but just the length of time being that short made it hard to answer everything.

      Question 3

I feel a third interview may have fit better for the process. My experience do a 1:1 interview with each individual from the Group, and allow enough time so both parties can see if it's a good fit.
