My recent virtual job interview experience, and even the events leading up to it, were profoundly disappointing. To summarize, it felt like a complete waste of my time. I found myself being interviewed by individuals who appeared to have significantly less education and experience than I do. To make matters worse, they skipped the basic courtesy of allowing me to introduce myself and dove straight into the questions. When it finally came time for me to ask questions, I posed two meaningful ones, only to be met with an unsettling silence from one of the interviewers. It was as though he had no idea how to respond. In particular, I inquired about the strengths and weaknesses of the team I would potentially work with, and he confidently asserted that the team had no weaknesses. As someone with ample experience, I couldn't help but see through this as an obvious exaggeration. In hindsight, I can't help but feel that this interview was a regrettable waste of my valuable time. I should have been more discerning. Additionally, it's astonishing to me that these individuals are still working remotely, more than three years after the onset of the pandemic. Overall, it was a frustrating and unprofessional experience that left me with serious doubts about the organization’s credibility and competence. Also, they had me do 2 exercises, one was to submit a sample of my work and the second to give advice regarding Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining Agreement. I feel used, I did work for them for free. Never again!
