I was initially excited about the opportunity and appreciated the quick response after submitting my application. However, the interview experience was disappointing and left me feeling uneasy. Like many candidates, I came into the conversation a bit nervous. But instead of helping to ease that, the interviewer’s demeanor made it worse. She was expressionless, disengaged, and at times seemed irritated when I asked questions. It felt less like a conversation and more like I was being evaluated by someone who didn’t want to be there.
When I asked thoughtful questions about the role and company, the responses were vague and dismissive, which made it difficult to get a clear sense of expectations or culture. I left the interview feeling more anxious than encouraged, and ultimately received a generic rejection a week later.
I’m sharing this in hopes that the company reflects on how they approach candidate interactions. Interviews are already stressful. How you treat people during that process speaks volumes about your culture and values.
