The interview started with a standard phone interview with typical questions about my experience and leadership style.
Then there was a second less formal interview at the feedyard I was being considered at. I was introduced to every department and shown the entire facility. I met all of the managers and foreman and was able to ask any questions about operations and daily life, and even about the personal life within the area. I was there for 7 hours, but it was very transparent and they were upfront about everything this position entailed.
At the end of the in person interview, the operations manager told me to go home, get some sleep, talk to someone who knows me well, and think about my interest in the position. They gave me the weekend to think about it.
The wanted to be very transparent about the difficulty and sacrifice required for the job.
