The process was fairly quick. They called me about two weeks after submitting my application. The interview was very brief, they only asked about 5-6 relatively open-ended questions. I do know the person that was eventually hired for this position, and they informed that it was helpful to discuss a lot of details regarding previous transportation work experience.

The situational questions presented during my interview were particularly valuable. These questions required me to think on my feet and come up with solutions to hypothetical scenarios that I might encounter as a Transportation Planner at Caltrans. For instance, I was asked how I would handle a sudden traffic congestion issue or what steps I would take to improve transportation efficiency in a particular area.
