Interview woman seemed professional and she acknowledged i knew what i was talking about to hire me over the phone....she was kind and answered my questions. The rescheduled my orientation from 9th to the 16th because i had covid. I filled out a form on Jotform and at the end it had me input my bank info for DD and sign and I was then instructed to bring in License and SS card and orientation is at 9. I got to what looks like a renovated appartment complex which was strange to me. Also as i walked around building 100 to find 103 it seemed to be hidden in the back down what looks to be a walk path around the building off to the side, not more professional area. I was confused and walked to the end to see a restaurant like sign with the name pointing to the door to find sketchy converted office amd no professional business sign or logo. I was unaware I was a couple min past 9 and I walked in and said good morning im here for orientation and the woman was very rude and "said oh... you must be Ariel, Did you call" while giving me a dirty look and negative tone like i had done something wrong. I replied no it's at 9 right? She said she'd be right back because im slightly late she came back she said they are letting me go. Good luck.
I did not understand at all. Then she said because I didn't call and was unaware I was a few min late im not worth it. I explained I just drove 30 min and have everything ready and it was barley after 9. I showed her i only had a screenshot of the number from the email its not in my phone. Plus i cant call not knowing im late.
Ive never had a business do this and I cried in the parking lot in my car for 30 min from how I was treated. No business has ever done something this sketchy. No business fires you on orientation for a few min without an actual reasonable offense. This whole situation did not seem legit or appropriate.
Ariel, we are glad you were able to read our signage and make it to the correct office. We take punctuality very seriously and unfortunately you were over 10 minutes late to orientation, but more importantly you didn't call to let us know you were running late. If you are 10 minutes late to your first day at a new job we cannot trust you will arrive to our client's homes when scheduled. There are people depending on you - our clients need to know their caregivers will show up when they're scheduled and our existing caregivers need to know they will be relieved when their shift is over. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
