      UI / UX Engineer Interview

      21 Aug 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kennesaw, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Carrier (Kennesaw, GA) in June 2024

      Interview

Well, after two months of a long and ridiculously grueling interview process, I get the email (after two follow-ups from me.) almost three weeks after my final onsite interview that read: “Sorry for the delay. I just received updates from the hiring manager. He made an offer to another candidate. You were one of the top 2. So sorry this didn't work out as we had hoped. Please keep checking the career site and apply to other opportunities.” Does this sound like the correct email you should send someone after they invested so much time into the interview process? Why would I ever want to work for Carrier after that? This was the most long and ridiculous hiring process ever. I can’t believe I wasted two months of my time and effort on this. Two recruiter calls, three virtual interviews, and an onsite interview 45 minutes away with 6 people (which was rescheduled last minute 3, almost 4 times - but I put my foot down and said no more rescheduling - even though I was practically begging for some kind of notice/confirmation so I could make plans with my current job). I was still waiting on an answer almost three weeks after my final onsite interview because I wasn’t even given a real timeline (I had to lie to my boss the morning of my onsite interview and say I had to take my dog to the vet, because what else am I going to do on such short notice without looking highly suspicious??). So much vague communication and hoops to jump through. For literally no reason. The main recruiter I had been corresponding with wouldn’t even answer my call (or email asking for any kind of feedback other than they made an offer to someone else.) I think that’s extremely cowardly after disrespecting me that badly. I just want to know where I went wrong. Do you realize what this does to a person’s mental health? I’m not just a number, ok? I’m literally a human being who has been strung along, hopes held high for two whole months only to be let down by two sentences. I haven’t had an appetite in months because I’ve been so stressed out about this. I’ve actually lost weight and I’m constantly nauseous from the stress thinking about this. I didn’t even apply at first. I was contacted by a Carrier recruiter via Indeed and subsequently moved to next steps, which I think makes this whole thing worse. I honestly just wish this whole thing never happened because of this completely ridiculous process. My advice to you? Do better. This was so beyond disrespectful. I literally just want to work (I know for a fact that I’m more than skilled and talented enough) and it seems like you all couldn’t care less about the candidates that want to work for you. Yeah, two vague sentences saying I was not chosen should be the perfect closure after two months of my time invested. Said no one ever. You’re literally a recruiter. You have one job. And you don’t even do it well. You missed our first phone call. I was ready and waiting, because I like to treat people in a professional way. Do your job better.
