      Anonymous employee
      Streator, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Caterpillar (Streator, IL) in June 2021

      Interview

I was initially contacted by telephone from Bill, He began by telling me a little about the job, he advised me that there was some lifting involved, but not real heavy stuff, about 30 to 40lbs. I told him that I would be fine. We talked a bit, I felt completely at ease, not really nervous, I told him about my work background, and my health. The interview was probably the best interview that I personally have ever had. I was and still am praying that I am hired on. I am skilled in assembly, Inventory, Clean and Paint, , overhead crane operator, fork truck operator, Wiring, I have built hydropic motors, . I can use air powered tools along with regular tools. I worked at SMF , so I am trained for Caterpillar assembly, parts, Quality Control. I was informed that a woman named Jill would be calling, , she did get back to me pretty quickly..bI spoke with Jill, who also was very kind, and understanding, we talked a few times, because my personal life had a lot happen during the interview process, Jill and Bill, we're both very patient and kind, it took me a bit to get my screening set up, but I had finally gotten that done. So the next step was to set up a face to face interview and set up a start date, I wasn't able to get back to either of them due to the death of my son's father, my son is on the spectrum, he had been waiting for his father to come to Illinois at the end of the week, but, his dad passed away before he could get here my son hadn't seen his father in almost 12 years, so as one can imagine, he and his children took his death very hard. We had wanted to get his body back here so that my son and the rest of his father's family could say their good byes, but all that came back was half of his ashes. I am so upset, I was going to be hired on, but, I didn't get back to Kill, or Bill fast enough. I have anted to make sure everything in my personal life was. Set do that I wouldn't have much to deal with, other than working, and getting divorced. Then on August 6 the. Jill had left me a voicemail, I had to get a new phone because my other one quit working ! Do it took me awhile to even get this phone up and running, I finally got the hang of. It, so I sent an email to Jill, telling her that I couldn't find her number, which at the time I couldn't. I resubmitted my application and resume for the original position and a few others that I feel I am qualified for and able to do. I would truly Love the Opportunity to meet both Bill and Jill, Best interview that I have ever had, and one that I Will Never Forget.
