I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Celtra (Ljubljana) in June 2022
Interview
The company tries hard to be seen and treated like a big and successful company, however their interviewers do not reflect that. Over my years I've had plenty of positive interviews at FAANG companies. 2 even ended in offers, but I digress all of them shared one common point. None of the interviewers seemed to let their ego get in the way. They all understood that it's an exploratory process. The same can not be said for Celtra, the 2 interviewers went on an ego trip of monumental proportions. Every question was followed by a sub question which was followed by a sub question until they ran out and simply asked for what else can you tell me about this topic? They also seemed to have a strange delight in catching you out on a technicality. At one point I was told that my answer to what is a higher order function was incorrect. My answer was: "a function that can receive another function as an argument and/or return a function" To this day I don't know what was incorrect about that. But I digress again, to keep a long story short. If you apply here perhaps prepare yourself to deal with some real dunning kruger types
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What does a browser do? What is a pure function? What is a higher order function? Describe in detail how a HTTP request works?
Sounds like the correct answer to me :-) Either way — as you also note — it should not be an interrogation, and we owe you a positive experience even if we don't end up working together. I'd like to learn more and make this right. If we haven't put you off completely, please reach out to me: jaka@celtra.com.
I was meant to have a half-hour phone screen. Interviewer began the call after schedule, and cut me off to end the call early. On the upside they were prompt in letting me know their final decision.
