I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Cengage (Cincinnati, OH) in July 2018

Interview

The entire interview process was drawn out over 3-4 months. This included multiple rounds of phone interviews, two video conference interviews, and one in-person interview with individuals and a group panel. The in-person interview required a rather lengthy “project” presentation that requires you to evaluate three different subjects to determine which one to invest development resources into. Overall, this was the most work I have ever experienced for a prospective job. Considering there was not a job offer, I’d say that the amount of time and effort are definitely not worth it.

Interview questions were standard for a product manager role. The first interview was an introduction. The second interview was with the hiring manager, and the third was with the hiring manager's manager and their dev lead.

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Cengage in May 2021

Interview

It started off with an interviewed with HR, then an interview with a manager, then another product manager, and then the CEO. The final step was a creating a project proposal and a presentation. Overall I found the process frustrating. The final project took me over 8 hours, on top of all the previous interviews, and the reasons for not hiring me were basically my background that I had shared from the beginning. It felt like a big waste of everyone's time.

It was warm and moved along once my resume was reviewed. It took 10 days to get a response from HR but my next ones with within a week of the previous.

VP acted for elaboration on my responses from the HR interview. That became more specific and I appreciated the build on my response as compared siloed interviews throughout the process

In the case of this role, it was only assigned to our top finalists.
