I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Center for Constitutional Rights (New York, NY) in Oct 2024
Interview
I applied to the job posting late September. About 10 days later I received an invitation to interview via email. The first-round interview was with 3 people, HR, department leader, and a department manager. The interview started and ended promptly, exactly an hour. The interview questions were very soft: how do you manage stress, stay organized, work with people from diverse backgrounds and what projects are you proud of. About ten days after my first interview I was invited for a second-round interview. The second interview involved 5 people, 2 folks from HR, the department leader, and two more department managers. This interview was also very soft. I got technical questions but they were like “a user says their computer is slow, what steps would you take?” and how much experience do I have with network and security. This one also lasted exactly one hour and included more situational questions about getting along with co-workers and what do I do when I make mistakes. I was asked for my references 3 days later and they were contacted promptly. The offer was made about 10 days from my second interview. Where you place on the salary scale is based on their union agreement and there’s not much room for negotiation. The salary and benefits are outstanding though! I would mention—don’t expect to move through the interview process quickly, and once you’re offered, don’t expect to start right away. Application to offer was almost 12 weeks with another 3 weeks between accepting the offer and starting.

Question 1
There wasn’t one question that stumped me, the questions are all quite simple: Why do you want to work here, how do you stay organized, what coaching have you received, what projects are you most proud of, have you worked with people from diverse backgrounds, how would you go about solving a problem that you don’t know the solution to, and what workplace software/programs am i familiar with.
