Hiring manager was not skilled for the interview. Clearly didn't read my resume and was being extremely negative, while recording me without my consent. VP clearly didn't know anything about security and had a very weak background. I am surprised this person is even at the company. CEO probably has no idea...will lead to poor hire and bad performance.
HR also terrible, the lady never responded to me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing, no real questions except random one on my resume. One of the weakest interview. Reflects extremely poorly.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Chainguard in July 2025
Interview
Interviewed for AE role:
1st step: Interview with Recruiter - see if you're a fit - Nick is great!
2nd step: Interview with Hiring Manager (He was great) - walk through your background, tell me about yourself, ask questions, etc. pretty chill interview.
3rd/4th step: Interview with Peers - AE + Presale Engineer: Culture Fit interview they are separate interviews but everyones new so hard to get much intel outside of their own experience.
5th: Interview Panel Presentation: Hiring Mgr, Peer, Director of Presale Eng. They have a prompt for you to prepare for - it's a wide range of how you ramp, territory plan, prospect, giving an example of prospecting into an account, and a deal review in a short 45 minutes.
6th: Interview with the Director of Sales. Similar to the Hiring Manager call and walking through your background/peppering you with questions.
Cross your t's and dot your i's when interviewing here - every move is being watched lol

Question 1
Why chainguard? Why you?
Tell me how you prospect?
Tell me about your fav deal you closed? How you broke in?
If you had a $15k deal pipelined with 75% chance of closing vs a $100k deal that was 25% chance of closing - which one would you spend time on?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Chainguard (London, England) in May 2025
Interview
Standard process: hiring manager interview, peer interviews, and a panel. The problem came after the panel interview — the recruiter reached out the next day to praise my presentation but also told me they had already chosen someone else. So basically, I interviewed even though the decision had already been made to hire an internal referal, with all the wasted time and effort that it carries for a panel presentation. Feels quite unethical to me.
