      Sales Interview

      14 Mar 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Campbell, CA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ChargePoint (Campbell, CA) in Jan 2017

      Interview

Pretty easy, you speak with a recruiter first, next is the hiring manager, and if you pass both phone interviews, then you'll be invited to an onsite interview to speak with 5 individuals from the Executive team, hiring manager, Sales team and HR.

      Interview

Avoid this place. This is a established company in a relatively new field so I didn’t expect perfection, but this so called “innovative and extremely fast moving” company is incredibly mismanaged. I have since advised many commercial real estate principals to avoid ChargePoint and install any competitors charging infrastructure. Those who have legitimately considered ChargePoint, liked the company on paper, have been disappointed in reality. Senior management was very professional and knowledgeable but severely understaffed. Middle management spent so much time pumping their own tires, they didn’t seem actually accomplish any goals or increase any sales. I Interviewed here over a 5 month period, and the job description, title, and responsibilities changed 3 separate times. 4 people at chargepoint that I interviewed with, said they did 12+ interviews before being hired. I conducted a total of 16 interviews, and 2 in person meetings until I finally woke up and realized this place is a complete mess, and took a job elsewhere. The concept seems great, but if they can’t get their act together during the interview process, one can only image what it is like to work here. If you want to work in EV charging, there are many other company’s, that are run far better. Save yourself the time and frustration and go to any of ChargePoint competitors. I write this review 10 months later, because I was just alerted that the exact job I applied for was just posted…. Again…

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ChargePoint (Campbell, CA) in Feb 2015

      Interview

The HR Director, or otherwise known as 'Director of People Operations' was truly an outside of the box kind of HR Director. Unlike many company HR Directors, she didn't make me feel like I was just a number, or just another candidate following a process. She was 'human'. And, for HR division, I would assume that would mean something but am finding, oftentimes, that term gets forgotten in the 'process'. Once I submitted my resume, she spent time on learning more about what exactly I would be best at. There are several roles at ChargePoint and with my sales background, she actually opened up possibilities I didn't even think of. She was careful to arrange select interviews with key people, as well as key team members. Organized, thoughtful, excellent follow up. Everyone was prepared and had actually reviewed my resume in advance. But, they didn't just keep their eyes glued to the 'stats'. The people involved in the hiring process were clearly engaging in conversation- beyond the 'sell me this pen', or 'tell me about a difficult customer and how you overcame that challenge'.....this was a refreshing interview because the HUMANS involved were dynamic, out of the box, holistic thinkers. And they clearly respected each others' opinions, as they cross pollinated their responses with each other and with the 'Director of People Operations'.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked so many different questions that were towards my understanding of 'channel partners', 'why I was changing from Medical Sales to something different', 'why I wanted to work at ChargePoint', questions about how I cultivated and grew a sales team, and so many more applicable business and sales questions. there was also conversation around my 'life'...where I was from, interests, etc. It wouldn't be fair to just put down one question they asked. I would challenge you to go in and find out for yourself!
