I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Chipotle (Cherry Hill, NJ) in June 2015
Interview
What they really look for is what is called a "Top Performer". You can sit there talking about how much you you've worked in food before and how you love chipotle's guac all day, but the qualities of a top performer show in their personality. They are looking for not just people that are hard workers but people that have the culture and values of Chipotle already ingrained in them. They do hire temporary line workers too, with not needing as much personal quality, but a manager that is set on building a strong team will hire only the best, and they are trained to pick up on people that are faking it, so if you fake being a top performer in the interview, they'll find out in your work and are swift to correct their mistakes. It's not all just line work either, so don't expect an easy job with good pay and benefits, Chipotle is not for the labor sensitive, we've had 20 people come and go in a week, that's why you see a lot of them are constantly hiring.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What do you know about chipotle? Why do you want to work here? What do you plan on getting out of working here?
Easy, straight forward questions. Started as a group interview and ended up being offered the job along with 2 other people. It was very casual and no pressure. Interviewer was friendly.

Question 1
Explain a time when you handled an upset customer?
Asked questions about what positions work best for you, why you want to work there, what makes you a good fit there, where you see yourself in 5 years. Very simple and open to answer any questions I had
I applied online. I interviewed at Chipotle (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2026
Interview
Very brief, was only asked a few questions. I felt a decision about not hiring me was made before the interviewer even sat down. I suspect the interviewer was not accustomed to interviewing and may actually only standing in for a manager that was not working that day
