I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Chipotle (Bloomington, IN) in June 2015
Interview
Interview scheduled the day after I received a call. It was a crew interview during opening hours -- before customers entered the store. The entire crew sat down and ate their free meal while they and the GM had an informal interview/chat with me. Note: this is NOT always common; interviews in the afternoon or evening will not be set up like this. The crew asked me both "real" interview questions and "small talk" questions. I had prepared extensively for the interview and honestly felt over-prepared, though you really should know everything you can about Chipotle's history and values as well as their progression as a corporation over time. The managers LOVE that. After the interview, the GM and the crew discussed whether they believed I possessed all of the 13 Characteristics (Google this) and whether or not they liked me in general. About 20 minutes after the interview I got a call from the GM offering me a position. Another note: Chipotle will often give you 2 or even 3 interviews. You only get an on-the-spot offer if you really "wow" them (or if they're desperate).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What do you know about Chipotle? What about you would make you excel here? What is your favorite food? What position would you do best in? What is your spirit animal? What do you do in your spare time? (Very informal questions based on the type of interview held; morning pre-open crew interview.)
Easy, straight forward questions. Started as a group interview and ended up being offered the job along with 2 other people. It was very casual and no pressure. Interviewer was friendly.

Question 1
Explain a time when you handled an upset customer?
Asked questions about what positions work best for you, why you want to work there, what makes you a good fit there, where you see yourself in 5 years. Very simple and open to answer any questions I had
I applied online. I interviewed at Chipotle (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2026
Interview
Very brief, was only asked a few questions. I felt a decision about not hiring me was made before the interviewer even sat down. I suspect the interviewer was not accustomed to interviewing and may actually only standing in for a manager that was not working that day
