Literally applied during covid and what I thought was my interview was actually my group signing forms for hire. I was just lucky to be honest to get a start in the restaurant industry like that, but I doubt the hire is that easy now. It’s hard to find a job nowadays, I’d be real surprised.

I applied online. I interviewed at Chotto Matte (London, England) in Oct 2025
Interview
All designers, please don’t apply to this company. They’re extremely unprofessional and show no respect for designers, especially when they ask you to create a campaign and dress it up as a “pre-interview test”.
Their hiring process is genuinely inappropriate. They promised a final interview after I completed an unpaid design task that took up my weekend, but once I submitted all the assets they requested, they completely disappeared. No follow-up, no interview arrangements, not even a rejection email.
What’s worse is that after they officially launched their festive materials, I was shocked to see that they seemed to have fed the creative ideas from my submitted designs into AI to generate their own output.
Don’t work for a company that expects unpaid spec work, ghosts you afterwards, and then uses your work to train or prompt AI for their own materials.

Question 1
They had me produce a whole load of unpaid festive assets and then ghosted me and fed my work into AI to generate their own stuff.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Chotto Matte (Toronto, ON)
Interview
In the first interview the manager was 30 min late, in the second interview he put me on hold in the middle of the interview. When I asked questions, she didn't want to answer and finally said I was not selected.
