After an initial talk with your typical Hiring manager who through the entire call was chewing gum and came across friendly but unprofessional.
Next stage was an hour long call with the CTO who ran through the role and what was expected and what was going on with the company. Some technical questions here were asked nothing major.
Then was given a relatively straightforward tech test which I passed.
Then came the hour long technical discussion. Started off great with 10 or so mins dedicated to the actual tech test and a discussion aroundf what I could do better and what went wrong, information of which was already asked for and included in the test itself as part of the README.md.
Then came 50 long minutes of trivial pursuit... No cv acknowledgement or anything that I may have done in the past. Just 50 minutes of quick fire technical questions which bring absolutely nothing to the table and really showed how terrible they were at assessing skill or anyones capability of doing the job.
Unless your a human textbook you probably will struggle with this.
The lead asked me the difference between PUT vs PATCH, which I answered correctly and then he then double took and tried to correct me with the incorrect answer. Either he was wrong and didn't know (see what I mean about job ability and having to answer these silly questions) or was trying to trip me up (which would be one of many red flags)
I then went on to do an half hour cultural interview which was really positive and really enjoyed that.
But the game of trivial pursuit left a nasty taste in my mouth and in hindsight i'm sort of glad they didn't go with me.
