I had some background experience in retail but the interviewer specifically said that you don't absoulutley need to have retail experience but just a good sense of fashion.
Club Monaco is not your normal clothing retail store but it is a FASHION HOUSE. That means that new clothing lines come out onto the floor every month and you sorta have to keep up with the constant new product. You don't have to wear their clothes but you have to be on top of your fashion knowledge and look like you can style someone from head to toe. I just wanted to let you know before you apply for this job because I would of apperciated it if someone had said something about that hear.
So i did take the offer of the stylist position at club monaco and thankfully my location is sorta low key when it comes to dressing up for your shift. But those who do dress better have better sale results as I have seen.
THIS JOB IS NOT COMISSION BASED but your sale transactions do get tracked. There is no incentive but my manager had said that if you sell well then you get more hours. I personally don't think giving hours as a "reward" is enough for me to go above and beyond my sales. Personally I don't like that mindset of the company.
INTERVIEW
Club Monaco has group interviews. Thats just what they do. Now I got hired for the holiday season so they were more leinent in the hiring process since I just did the group interview and everyone got hired from that group. No one on one interview has been done but it may differ in locations.
INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
The interview questions were very basic "Why club monaco" "What are your strengths/weaknesses?". Just know the brand and what they stand for (if you know what the culture club is, then you're ahead of the game) also know what your own sense of style is and don't be afraid to really describe what your style is. Throw modesty out thewindow! As corny as it sounds you have to have a passion for fashion to be successful in the stylist position. If you are looking for a quick job to get money then i suggest you try sears. (100 points for you if you got the reference)
Tip: And don't worry about being put on the spot. They ask one question and go through everyones response so they hear everybodys answer. It's not a free for all that I thought it would be so everyone has their time to say their answer. This also give you the chance to listen to other peoples responses and see the interviewers facical expressions and body language and see if they like it. If they smile, make a note of what the person said and go off that if you don't know what to say!
Finally when they ask: DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? You better have a one in mind. This is your last chance to make a lasting impression. You don't have to ask a question, this is just a way for the interviewer to say "ANY LAST WORDS". Make a statement like "I don't have a question but I like the fact that the position is called stylist instead of a sales rep, i like the mindset of the company" Just leave a positive lasting impression.
OK OK OK ENOUGH TALKING. WHATS THE BENEFITS OF THIS JOB?
If you are part time like me then really the only benefits are the discount on clothes. Now the discounts are 50% off regular prices items and 30% on clearance items. But the cool part is every once a month for two days (when the store gets new shipment of clothing) the employees get 60% off items off regular price and 50% off clearance.
NOW the only down fall to this is that this 50/60 discount only applies to employee purchases for their self and not gifts. So lets say you are a female with a smaller frame, you can only buy things that fit you. But this is only for 50/60 and 50/30%off items you can buy for gifts to your family and friends. Be aware though you can easily spend over $300 in one transaction even with the discount so be mindful. Unless you are loaded then hey go crazy!!!
TL'DR Club Monaco has good clothing benfits. If you like fashion this is a good place to work for. Keep up with fashion trends and look the part. Take it easy and be yourself in the interview because at the end if they hire you, they HIRE YOU not the person you thought they would like.
GOOD LUCK AND HOPEFULLY YOU GET
WELCOMED TO THE CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
