I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Community Living Guelph Wellington (Wellington, ON)
Interview
I was first emailed by HR requesting an initial phone interview. I was given several options to see when would be mutually convenient.
The phone interview was about 30 minutes in length. I was asked verifying questions about my resume. I was asked about what I thought the key things that I could bring to the position or were my strongest assets. Something along those lines. I was told about the various part time positions available and asked which ones appealed to me. I was told more details about the agency (that it's unionized, pay rates, etc).
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Community Living Guelph Wellington
Interview
Applied online, took about a month or so to hear back (they were in the middle of union negotiations so they were not hiring). Got called for an interview. Interviewed by two people. They use situational/behavioural method of interviewing for the whole interview. They want to hear how you acted in specific situations in your previous work/volunteer experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
All questions are about the same difficulty. Questions such as: describe a time where you have made a decision, and realized later that it was the wrong decision/choice?
what did you do about it, etc.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Community Living Guelph Wellington in May 2014
Interview
I applied to the job posting at the end of April (learned about it from indeed.com or workopolis..I can't remember). The deadline to apply was April 30th.
I received a call a week later on a Thursday inviting me to an interview for Tuesday.
I was interviewed by two people (HR and a program manager). Very relaxed and comfortable interview.
The job positions available were discussed with me (there were a few positions open and I was interested in working for the company and was interested in any position). They discussed the union, rates of pay, vacation time, different homes in the area, expectations, general overview of some of the people they support, etc.
There were the standard interview questions (about who you are, what you have done, accomplishments, strengths, what you can bring to the job, etc).
The second part of the interview included situational/behavioural-based questions (examples of when you've had to face a conflict, difference of opinion, improved services, etc).
I signed the check references form, and they said they would let me know either way by hopefully Friday (depending on how long reference checks take- they had interviews on Tuesday & Wednesday).
I received a call on Thursday afternoon, offering me a relief support position!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
This question was a first for me with regards to interview questions:
describe a time where you have made a decision, and realized later that it was the wrong decision/choice?
what did you do about it, etc.
I have never thought of examples of this within the context of interviews. I think this is asked to see how you view regret/ failure/ resilience/ perseverance/ accountability/ admitting you're wrong.
