I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Compass (New York, NY) in Mar 2017

      Interview

An internal recruiter contacted me about the role. I hadn't heard of the company prior to that. The phone call with the recruiter went well, and I had a second round phone call with another Strategic Growth Manager which also went well. They had me into the office for an in-person interview, but that is where the process took a turn for the worst. Firstly, they said to set aside an extra hour to "maybe" meet other team members but did not tell me who I'd be meeting with except for one person. When I followed up with the recruiter about who else I might meet, there was no response. For the in-person interview, I met with another person on the team in a similar role. I found it strange that for a third round interview I was not meeting with the hiring manager at that point in the process because I had already met a team member prior to coming in. The person interviewing me was very unprofessional. She came with her lunch and ate while I interviewed with her, saying she had a meeting directly after. She asked me questions that were not very relevant to the job, and cut the interview short to get to her meeting. All told, we spoke for 20 minutes in total. I was only able to ask 2 questions and didn't get a chance to learn more about what the job would entail or what the company was like. She was clearly not trained on how to interview and didn't even seem to want to talk to me. After that, the recruiter returned and walked me to the door. I was told no one else on the team would be available to meet but then received a stock rejection email a few days later (On a Saturday night, which was weird). In general, it was absolutely absurd that someone who clearly had no management experience decided my fate for the next round. Compass needs to get their hiring process straightened out because that was one of the worst interviews I've been to in my professional career.

      Interview

Felt similar to another SGM interview I read on Glassdoor. Had one call with recruiter and felt like I was just a number to boost number of people interviewed for the position.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Compass (New York, NY) in June 2024

      Interview

I was told it was a 4-5 interview process. I completed an introductory interview with the main recruiter for the department. He prepped me for the second interview. I was prepared to speak very specifically about the requirements of the position but unfortunately the head of the department did not ask me anything about my knowledge of the product and steered the conversation away from it when I attempted to display how my experience would fit the position. I wasn’t offered a second interview despite being uniquely qualified.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Compass in Apr 2024

      Interview

Recruiter reached out to me several times. On our call she immediately prefaced the call with "Well this wont take long at all" and sounded like she was speed reading through a job description. Then she asked to learn a little about my background. After I shared about my bg, no questions were asked and was told that she will share the information with the hiring people and will get back to me. I don't even think I was able to say Bye as she hung up so quick. I've been in recruiting and staffing for many years and this was the most unprofessional recruiter I've spoken to. She sounded impatient and just trying to get her numbers in. I was honestly so shocked.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

No questions were asked about me, what I'm looking for, no follow up questions on my experience, background, etc. It was a complete waste of my time, but at least it wasn't a 30 min call because she was right - it didnt take long about a 9 minute phone call.
