I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Compass (Austin, TX)
Interview
Spoke with recruiter who said I had a strong profile and that I would be a good fit for the role. Told me that I would be doing a role play as part of my follow-up interview and advised I prepare for that.
Went in for my follow-up interview and met with an individual who would be considered a peer (ie fellow individual contributor) if I were to be hired. Had 30-40 minutes of Q&A, but no role play as previously advised by the recruiter...
Was sent a generic email stating that they were focusing on other candidates who are a better fit.
Advice for recruitment team and sales management: keep the fox out of the hen house when establishing new markets and hiring initial sales personnel.
When the interviewer and interviewee are potential sales peers, it doesn't seem wise to give the interviewer the final say in the process--especially in the competitive role of sales. The inherent risks using such an approach are obvious and could impact meeting both hiring quotas and the quality of sales personnel that are brought on-board.

Question 1
Describe an emotional sale you've been in.
Describe a time you were able to successfully negotiate on behalf of your customer/client.
Felt similar to another SGM interview I read on Glassdoor. Had one call with recruiter and felt like I was just a number to boost number of people interviewed for the position.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Compass (New York, NY) in June 2024
Interview
I was told it was a 4-5 interview process. I completed an introductory interview with the main recruiter for the department. He prepped me for the second interview. I was prepared to speak very specifically about the requirements of the position but unfortunately the head of the department did not ask me anything about my knowledge of the product and steered the conversation away from it when I attempted to display how my experience would fit the position. I wasn’t offered a second interview despite being uniquely qualified.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Compass in Apr 2024
Interview
Recruiter reached out to me several times. On our call she immediately prefaced the call with "Well this wont take long at all" and sounded like she was speed reading through a job description. Then she asked to learn a little about my background. After I shared about my bg, no questions were asked and was told that she will share the information with the hiring people and will get back to me. I don't even think I was able to say Bye as she hung up so quick. I've been in recruiting and staffing for many years and this was the most unprofessional recruiter I've spoken to. She sounded impatient and just trying to get her numbers in. I was honestly so shocked.

Question 1
No questions were asked about me, what I'm looking for, no follow up questions on my experience, background, etc. It was a complete waste of my time, but at least it wasn't a 30 min call because she was right - it didnt take long about a 9 minute phone call.
