      Senior Regional Workplace Manager Interview

      12 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Compass (New York, NY) in Oct 2018

      Interview

Obligated to tell about my experience after one of the worst interview processes ever. I spent weeks taking time away from my current job scheduling multiple calls with people, who were all late to the scheduled calls with no notice. I had one very obvious entry level person interview me on the phone. Was invited for an in-person interview for which I had to prepare an in-depth presentation. Met with 6 different people, who frankly didn't know much about Workplace Services/Facilities Management. Run like all heck if you're looking to join this group. The best part was when a consultant hired to build the facilities team walked in and started reaming into me 10 seconds after he walked into the room. We didn't even start speaking! My resume is certainly worth discussing so this behavior didn't add up. Either he was having a real bad day or he saw a white woman and had no interest in taking the conversation further. Not sure why a consultant from Singapore would be hired when you have plenty of world class talent in New York - a real estate capital of the world. Everyone else I met with was pretty nice. They all seemed overwhelmed and in a rush. It's been over a month, and the Compass recruiter who had arranged all of this never got back to me. Pretty bad after wasting countless weeks of back and forth, hours on the phone (and waiting for tardy arrivals), taking a day off from my current job to interview smack in the middle of the day - which was the only availability offered to me, AND spending a lot of my weekend building a presentation. The early stages of the process should have all been a red flag. Lesson learned. Didn't get an offer. Not bitter about it, this was just such an unprofessional experience and terrible waste of time. Wouldn't have accepted an offer regardless.

      Question 1

How would you on-board a third party real estate managing agent? How would you manage remote teams? What is your management style?
