      Advertising and Sales Graduate Interview

      24 June 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Condé Nast (London, England) in June 2018

      Interview

I applied online which was a quick process as it only involved uploading a CV and cover letter. I was then invited to the next stage which was an interview in London. All the candidates (about 15) are taken upstairs and shown a presentation giving an overview of the company/ the role and are then handed some magazines to take a look at the advertisement spread. The presentation outlined that the role will require making 60 phone calls a day which wasn't clarified on the job spec and also put me off as I was drawn to the role from the side of advertising rather than sales. One by one each candidate is called for a 5 minute interview where questions are asked in a shot fire way, making you feel like you need to rush your answers as the time limit is so constrained. The whole interview process takes an hour and the rest of the time is filled with a long psychometric test. This 5 minute interview and psychometric test could easily have been sent to candidates online and so it felt like a bit of a waste of time travelling to the offices just to be spoken to for 5 minutes. Every single person coming out of the interview looked a bit deflated it is difficult to know exactly what they are looking for and whether you are responding well to the brief questions the shortness just shows a lack of respect for the candidates time.

During this time got taken into a private room for a 5 minute interview, more of a chat really. Got invited to the next round which was a zoom call online, asking about my past around education and my hobbies/extracurricular activity's

      Graduate Advertising Sales Interview

      1 Oct 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Condé Nast (London, England) in Sept 2021

      Interview

All of the candidates were placed in a room with singular chairs spread out. There was a very brief presentation of the company and what the job involved. We were then told that we would have to do a psychometric paper test whilst waiting for a one-on-one conversation. Due to Covid, we had to stay in our uncomfortable seats, which meant I was given a magazine to lean on to fill in this dense and badly printed document. Once called in, I was only there for 3 minutes, and was asked questions more about the company rather than a traditional interview, and was very disarmed about how casual it was. Considering I was given less than two days' notice to get down to London, I had to pay a very expensive train fare. When I asked about expenses later in an email, I was told the company does not pay them. I felt as if the process was very old fashioned and could have saved so much more time and personal expenses being through an online interview and call.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What do you know about advertising sales? Why do you want to work for Conde Nast? Which magazines are you the most familiar with?
