      Account Manager Interview

      21 Sept 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Costa Mesa, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Connectifier (Costa Mesa, CA)

      Interview

The interview process was pretty inefficient. I applied online and they sent me a set of questions to fill out. They were a standard set of questions like "Why would you be a good fit?" and "Tell me about a customer service experience?". They also asked a brain teaser question. Pretty standard stuff. After submitting that, they asked me to do a video phone interview with a member of the team. Feeling I was a great fit for the role, and wanting the position, I prepared thoroughly, and did a lot of research on the company. The video interview was ineffective at best. Instead of asking any questions about my background or skill set, both of which were very relevant to the position, they spent the entire time asking brain teasers. This would maybe make sense for an engineering role, but for a sales role, it does not make sense. I have worked in sales for three years, and never once has a client asked me to find out how many planes were flying over the Atlantic Ocean at a given time. After the brain teasers, they gave little information on the company. I tried asking engaging questions, and even mentioned multiple times that I was a former client, and enjoyed the Connectifier product. You would think the interviewer would be interested by this, and ask follow up questions on that accordingly, but it was like I never even said it. All in all, the interview lasted 20 minutes. Being a recruiter, I already knew I was a no. It took three days to get that answer, and after asking for feedback on how I could improve my interviewing/insight as to why I was a no, they responded saying it was company policy not to give interview feedback. Not a great experience, and with such an inefficient interviewing policy, I am sure they are missing out on qualified candidates.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How many planes are flying over the Atlantic Ocean right now? If a lily pad doubles in size every day, and covers an entire pond on the 48th day, how long does it take to cover half of the pond? If it takes 5 machines 5 minutes to make 5 widgets, how many minutes does it take for 100 machines make in 100 widgets?
