      Talent Acquisition Partner Interview

      5 Aug 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tempe, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Consumer Cellular (Tempe, AZ) in Aug 2021

      Interview

Recruited by a staffing agency. Loved the Recruiter there. She really hyped the place up. Received a call and voicemail from a Manager (can't say name). I also received a call from an unknown number I believed to be the company itself. When I answered, I was immediately hung up on. I called the manager back and his first response was "Did you think I was a sales or telemarketer or something? I called you yesterday." I apologized and spoke to him about the role they were hiring for. It was clear I wasn't being listened to. He had more "ums" and "uhs" in his dialogue you could make a dangerous drinking game out of. At the end, he asked how soon I would be available for an in-person interview (during a pandemic). I advised next week as my schedule for the week was booked (I'm a Recruiter presently and had my weekly schedule filled). He pushed back saying the company had limited availability and we would need to move fast and he'd have to see if anyone was available. I called the staffing agency Recruiter to explain how the call went. Turns out, in a matter of minutes, her contact at this place said no to me because "all I was looking for was a Coordinator position" which was not the case at all. I told the lad on the phone I was ready for a serious leadership position as all I was getting called about lately were Recruiting Coordinator positions. To which his response was 'oh okay, understood.' I explained to the agency Recruiter how the conversation went and she said she would push back with her contact to see if a second chance could be given. This proved that my concerns were true. I was not listened to nor was given the opportunity to succeed. The same Manager from Consumer Cellular called again and left a voicemail about setting up a virtual interview with his counterparts. When I called him back, his first response again was "I called you yesterday..." A long silence. Then he said he would have to look into when we could schedule something, which conflicted his voicemail entirely. My agency Recruiter eventually said they wouldn't be moving forward based the company's feedback she received was simply, "I tried calling him again and got no response." I can't imagine working for this company and this kind of management, and having to approach him specifically because I couldn't answer his call or email right away because I was recruiting. Not a professional candidate experience. To management, I'm sorry I didn't drop everything to answer your calls right away. Next time, I'll tell my current employer to bugger off because you're calling. Or seriously endanger my current job because I need to come to your beckoning call.
