      Senior Software Developer Interview

      2 Mar 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Solihull, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Correla (Solihull, England) in Feb 2026

      Interview

The interview process initially consisted of two stages: an introductory call followed by a 90 minute technical interview. This later changed to include an additional stage with the R&D Director, extending the overall process beyond what was first outlined. The first technical interview with the Lead Developer and another team member was scheduled with only two hours’ notice. While I did not feel I performed at my best due to the limited preparation time, I appreciated progressing to the next round. Across each stage of the process, interviewers joined the calls late. While occasional delays are understandable, repeated lateness across multiple interviews felt unprofessional and set an inconsistent tone. The second interview focused on personality, working style, and gaining a better understanding of the product. During this call, the Lead Developer mentioned that the final stage would likely be shorter than 90 minutes, as some of the planned questions were already being covered. However, the final interview, another session with the Lead Developer and a Senior Developer, including a pair programming exercise which reverted to the full 90 minutes. At the beginning of the call, I asked for clarification on timing given the earlier comment, but it proceeded as a full-length session. I was informed that I would hear back by Friday evening, as they had other interviews to complete. When Friday passed without communication, I attempted to contact the internal recruiter but did not receive an initial response. Around the same time, I noticed the Senior Developer posting on LinkedIn that they were actively hiring for the same role. When I raised this with the recruiter through text, I was told the role had not been posted. After clarifying that it had, I did not receive any further follow up or explanation or a call to reassure. Receiving the eventual rejection was not unexpected, particularly given that they appeared to be continuing to source additional candidates. However, the lack of communication, repeated lateness, and inconsistency throughout the process left a negative impression. Due to this experience, I would be hesitant to apply for future roles with the company. Overall, while the individuals I spoke with were personable during the interviews themselves, the process felt disorganized. Greater clarity, punctuality, and transparency would significantly improve the candidate experience.
