I applied online. The process took 8 months. I interviewed at County of Clark (NV) (Las Vegas, NV) in Mar 2025
Interview
The interview style was Panel, an interview simultaneously conducted by multiple people. My interview was with three interviewers. The location is easy to find, so I recommend getting there early. The questions are printed on a sheet in front of you to follow along. Even though there are pretty simple questions, the answers require in-depth research or prior knowledge.

Interview
Applied online, received emails to setup an interview. I was email and told I am a 90 % match. Someone scheduled my interview. I was early to the interview. VERY SHOCKED, someone ELSE, different than the hiring manager/admin who setup my interview and conducted everything else used the first persons name...... Or walked over and used that persons physical computer. I felt cat fished. Dishonest. I asked if we could turn on video and they told me no.
I was then asked a lot of questions that were not on the Job Description at all..... I did my best to relate my prior experience to requested experience NOT on the JD.
Well, safe to say, I did not move forward. Based on the JD and my prior relations, I was told I'm a 90 percent match. Here I am preparing for an interview with someone based on a JD and someone else/a differrent person showed up and interviewed me for a huge tech stack of another position? CAT FISHED and dishonest.
I feel, its ok to be interviewed by many people. But inform the interviewee, it's a panel, and each of the people conducting the interview should use their own work logins and work computers. NOT e-mail out a video link under someone, to only have a completely different person appear on their login/machine. Then refuse to allow video, when it was setup AS a video interview? Then ask the interviewer about a lot of stuff NOT in the JD? The roles was falsely advertised.

Interview
First your application is screen and scored. First interview is a standard 3 person panel interview with prewritten questions. They each take turns asking a question, and cannot deviate from the written questions during this first interview. Second interview is more personal, with the chief and one other admin or supervisor. It's more of a getting to know your personality to see if you'd be a good fit.

Question 1
When they ask about any officer safety questions, they're looking for you to say you'd leave and get to safety and call the cops. A lot of former cops interview for this position and say they'd stay and argue or try to get compliance and fail the interview. Remember that they can only grade you on what you answer. So don't assume because you mentioned you did code before or were a cop they can also fill in the blanks. Say what you did or didn't do as part of your job, things you enforced etc...
