      Embedded Software Engineer Interview

      22 June 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Porto, Oporto
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Critical Software (Porto, Oporto) in June 2023

      Interview

My advice: don't even bother wasting time by scheduling an interview with them, I feel they cannot be trusted. They announce positions as being 100% remote to lure you in for an interview, but that is a lie. When the process moves further, at best they tell you that they only have hybrid positions (with no guarantees that they won't require you to be 100% onsite later). Also, considering the salary range discussed during the recruiting process, they pay below average, so definitely not worth your time even if you don't care about remote work.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

As usual, they ask about your previous projects in previous companies, plus some questions about C/C++ concepts and also ask you to comment some code snippets.

Thank you for sharing your perspective on the interview process. We value all feedback and take it seriously. We are sorry to hear that you felt a lack of trust and apologize if there was any miscommunication or misunderstanding regarding the remote work aspect. We want to clarify that we currently have a hybrid work model implemented in our company – and we are transparent about that. Regarding salary discussions, we don't typically disclose salary ranges during the initial stages of the recruitment process. Our aim is to have comprehensive discussions about candidates' qualifications, skills, and fit for the role. We appreciate your feedback and will take your comments into consideration as we continue to improve our communication during the stage of contact with our candidates. If you have any further concerns or suggestions, please feel free to share them with us.
