Question 1
What was the biggest mistake you've made in your career and how did you overcome it?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cuddledown (Portland, ME) in Oct 2009
Interview
My impression of Cuddledown is that they are lacking in marketing expertise. They are completely product-focused. Their catalog did not reflect a knowledge of professional copywriting. And for an upscale audience, I thought it was lacking in several areas, including paper quality and photography.
I had a phone interview with HR, and their HR person got quite annoyed when I was reluctant to name my salary requirement. I had wanted to get more info before naming a figure. The first interview was with someone smart and amiable. The group interview included the company president, who made it clear that he reads every word of catalog copy. He struck me as being someone who does not know how to delegate to his employees. He seems to want total control of everything going on within his company. The office itself is shabby and cramped. I was not impressed by this company.
