I had a telephonic round with D.E.Shaw India, Hyderabad for the position “Analyst/Senior Analyst-Data Analytics”.
It was one of the worst interview experiences. The interview was scheduled at 5 P.M (during my office hours). After waiting for half-an-hour, I received a call from the interviewer. There was lot of background noise (kid’s were crying at the background).
Few questions were asked and I have answered well. The final question was about the current affairs. The basic etiquette of asking do you have any further questions, thank you etc were missing from the interviewer’s end. I don’t understand one question, regarding current affairs; do we apply these current affairs in our day to day job? Probably it’s good to have the knowledge about what’s happening around us, I agree.
But when you are recruiting for a position in an organization how does it matter if an athlete has won a gold medal or bronze medal in Olympics? We do not apply these in our job. I would suggest the HR please train the interview panel on how to take the interviews. Also, I would suggest the organization kindly train all the employees and specially HR’s to give timely feedback for the interviews conducted.
