      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DENSO (Maryville, TN) in Jan 2020

      Interview

Heavily advertised Denso Direct Hire positions available for entry level. No mention of any required skillset for position. You take an automated test, if you pass they schedule you for an interview within days. Unfortunately, post interview, they then send you emails stating that you don't have the required skillset "Manufacturing" for the entry level job. They recommend that you apply through their Temp Adjacency at reduced hourly wages. Sounds fishy, especially when everyone local says there is a staffing shortage for ENTRY positions. Meanwhile, the Staffing Company is making repeated attempts to solicit your employment. Not sure what legal system they are trying to skirt, but it should be looked into.

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at DENSO (Guelph, ON) in May 2025

      Interview

HR emailed me to say they got my resume and wanted to know when I'd be available for a phone call. I texted back right away saying I'm free whenever during business hours. I got a call that seemed like an informal interview. It felt like they were just asking the same stuff they always do for any job, which is frustrating. At the end, they asked if I'd be free to come in for an in-person interview the next morning at 8 AM. Of course, I said yes. I went, filled out paperwork, and took a general intelligence and physical ability test. I was timed, and I even had to run a little, which I thought was cool. It was all very casual. Before I turned my application back in, I ran across a question about background checks, and I honestly didn't plan on lying at all. So, I talked with the guy and told him what happened, and I said I wanted to be honest. He told me, "Thanks for telling me that and being upfront." I asked if it would affect my chances of getting the job. He said no. He did say that if I fit the job and look like a good employee, then he'd push for me to get hired. They were so gracious, cordial, and professional, it was clear to me that I would get this job. I was so ready for my start day that I was surprised when he told me that they needed to review my information and get back to me by Wednesday, but it was only Friday. When Monday was a holiday, I thought it was okay to be patient. Then, Tuesday morning at 8 AM, I got an email that said, "Thank you for applying with us, but you didn't make the cut. Have a nice day!" It was so frustrating to get rejected after being so close to the finish line and seeing that being tested and all was the beginning of a hiring process.
