      Supply Chain Graduate Interview

      20 Nov 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Birmingham, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at DHL Supply Chain (Birmingham, England) in Nov 2019

      Interview

I had to do an online test and a job simulation which included video questions. Neither was too bad and I heard back very quickly that I had made it to an assessment centre. On the whole I found the day enjoyable, the staff were lovely. Unfortunately, my view of DHL was then ruined, not because of the rejection but because they told us that we would hear at some point on a Friday and then proceeded to not email us until very late on Friday evening, meaning I had this hanging over me all day and my Friday evening was then ruined. It has also made it difficult to request feedback in a timely manner. It has now been a multiple weeks since I received my rejection, I requested feedback (which they offered to give) within 10 minutes of the email being sent but have still heard absolutely nothing. The assessment day was made up of: (1) a fun icebreaker, (2) a group activity where you had to build a structure to hold a water bottle, (3) an interview - this was not pleasant, it was very structured (everyone is asked the same question for fairness) which didn't suit a lot of people I spoke to and was very heavily focused on team work and leadership. Whilst I expected a few questions on this, it became excessive. There was little chance to talk about your interests more generally or anything you found interesting about DHL, (4) a warehouse tour, (5) a "business" group activity where you had to prioritise tasks and leave a couple out, (6) a morning brief ("presentation") for a team that you are line manager of, including certain pieces of information that they give you. Again, this was an unnatural task as you are not really able to interact with the panel of assessors as you would a real team.
