      Legal Secretary Interview

      11 Feb 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Palo Alto, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DLA Piper (Palo Alto, CA) in Nov 2014

      Interview

Quite excessive. First phone screening, then written assessment tests, and then several face-to-face interviews with a team. I have successfully passed all the stages, and was told that out of all I am the strongest candidate, and they only needed to complete the background check in order to start work. The background check took 3 weeks (because of the holidays and out of country experience). When I called to check the status on my background check, I was told the office decided to move on with other candidate. Very unprofessional and inappropriate practice for such a global firm..

      Legal Secretary Interview

      4 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Manchester, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at DLA Piper (Manchester, England) in Sept 2019

      Interview

2 hour interview with two members from the support team who were really warm and friendly. They made me feel very comfortable and seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. They were also open about the challenges they experience and provide a more realistic idea of what to expect in the role and the ideal candidate best suited to their work environment.

      Legal Secretary Interview

      6 Oct 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Diego, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DLA Piper (San Diego, CA) in Sept 2017

      Interview

Before you ever speak to a live person, via phone or face-to-face, they put you through a very time-consuming, awkward "digital interview". A live person asks you a question, and you have 3 minutes to answer while literally talking to your own reflection. It's so impersonal and very hard to accurately convey responses when self-consciously staring at yourself. Then I took a 2.5 hour assessment of my software skills which was fine. But it also included a personality test where you choose which of two statements best fits you. Sometimes neither are very fitting...nor flattering. After committing all that time to the process, I received, via email, a rejection letter (which had a typo by the way - rather ironic!) It was the worst interview experience I ever had.
