I was rejected after the HR screening, cited for weak communication skills. They applied pressure early to test my composure and gauge my genuine interest in finance throughout the process.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Da Vinci Derivatives in Apr 2025
Interview
The interview process started with an online assessment, which felt similar to the kinds of practice tests you can find on websites offering company-specific simulations. After that, I took a coding test on HackerRank. Once I passed that stage, I had an HR interview where we talked about my motivation for applying, my understanding of the company, and a few quick-fire questions at the end—things like mental math. The final round was a technical interview involving a card game with a Quant Researcher.

Question 1
You’re given two red cards and two black cards. The cards are shuffled and placed face down. You flip them over one at a time. You start with $100, and before revealing each card, you can choose how much to bet. If the card is red, you win double your bet. If it’s black, you lose the amount you bet. What’s the optimal betting strategy in this scenario?
Now, suppose there’s a $20 entry fee to play the game. How does that affect your strategy?
