I applied online. I interviewed at DaVita (Denver, CO) in Apr 2026
Interview
~3 entire months from application to rejection.
I noticed that most of the job postings published by Davita had very, very low application numbers compared to other companies with similar openings.
I would later come to understand why.
Despite this ominous data point, I applied.
Once it began moving, there were countless emails.
Normal emails but also the ever-so-interesting…
…Emails from the recruiter that weren’t addressed to me but instead for another candidate.
…Emails with the wrong interview stage scheduled.
…Emails asking to reschedule the interview.
…Emails letting me know to keep an eye out for another email.
Which seems like a positive bit of “over communication” but keep in mind this stretched ~3 months and oftentimes emails could go over a week without any updates.
The lengthy interview process:
A recruiter screening, a team leader interview, a director (hiring manager) interview, a leadership panel interview , and a direct-report team panel interview, the final recruiter call.
Many of them were an hour long.
I was told on many occasions, across many calls, that they were taking their time simply because they could. They wanted a culture fit above all else.
This heavily implied they needed a manager-in-name-only to protect the team, make no actual changes, but carry all of the responsibility should they ever stop performing at their current level.
In my experience and opinion, there was a massive lack of respect for the candidate’s time. Due to the extreme drain on time, I considered withdrawing on multiple occasions.
The final call was a rejection that could have been an email.
Phone interview was short, approximately 5-10 minutes. Followed by a three person panel interview. Then a second in person interview to discuss two case studies. The interview process is not hard at all as long as you are experienced in dialysis.
