      Software Engineer Interview

      23 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Data Intelligence in Jan 2022

      Interview

A third party recruiter found my resume on Dice.com and emailed me about the position. I said I was interested and emailed some basic information back and we had a brief phone call. Then, we scheduled an interview on Microsoft Teams. The interview was with 2 people in the company. There was supposed to be a third person but he wasn't able to make it. They didn't have their cameras turned on so it is unclear if I was required to have mine on but I did anyway. The questions were mostly about what I do in my current position and a few light technical questions. It was scheduled for an hour but only lasted around 20 minutes. Overall, I thought I did so-so in the interview. Under normal circumstances, that probably would've been the only interview. But since one of the interviewers couldn't make it, another one was scheduled with him. In this interview, he did most of the talking as he went in depth about the position and the projects that they work on. He made it clear that this position in particular only involved fixing bugs and not creating new features and he asked if I was okay with that. He only asked me a few questions at the end. This interview was scheduled for 30 minutes and took the whole time. I got a text from the recruiter a week later saying they wanted to extend an offer and I got the actual offer letter the day after that. The offer was contingent on 2 things: me getting an interim security clearance, and the client accepting me to work with them. I was told that there was a possibility that the client would want to interview me as well. In the end, I decided to decline because I didn't feel that it was a step up from my current job and I decided it wasn't the right time to leave my current company. Also, don't panic if they repost the job online after your interview. The position I interviewed for happened to have multiple openings.
