I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Datadog (Toronto, ON)
Interview
2 months long process which is insanely long by any standards.
-First interview with HR. Went great!
-Interview with hiring manager. Went great!
-Peer interview with a future co-worker. Went great!
-Peer interview with another future co-worker. Went great!
-Technical workshop/lab. Around 30 hours worth of setup and documentation. It has to be working, but it has to be documented like a university lab session report. Went great!
-Peer interview with another co-worker. Went great!
-Follow up interview with the hiring manager. Went great! Says everything is 100% positive
-Sales presentation with a panel of SE and AM and managers about 15 hours worth of work to build everything up. Went great!
-Ended have a 2 minutes phone call from HR saying it would not work, for unknown reasons. Asked for constructive feedback twice, no answer from anyone!!!!
I really don't care being turned down... Defeat makes you grow. But I care not getting proper feedback, especially when everyone tells me there's no negative feedback throughout the whole process. That's just unprofessional.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Datadog (Bengaluru) in Apr 2026
Interview
Interviewed at datadog and unfortunately had a disappointing experience with the recruiter. From the beginning, the interaction felt dismissive and biased, and I got the impression that my candidacy had already been judged before the conversation really started.
I asked a few standard questions about the company and role, including revenue-related questions that are publicly available since Datadog is a public company. The response I received was unnecessarily defensive and came across as belittling rather than informative.
I understand recruiters have difficult jobs and busy schedules, but professionalism and respectful communication matter a lot in candidate experience — especially at a company with such a strong reputation. Sadly, this interaction did not reflect that standard.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Datadog
Interview
The recruiter contacted me on linkedin. After agreeing to an interview, I shared my availiability and interview was scheduled. On the day of the interview, the recruiter wrote me an email asking to reschedule about five minutes before the interview. I agreed and we scheduled the interview for the next week. On the day of the reschedled interview, the recruiter did not attend the interview and never responded to my email. Profoundly unprofessional and horrible representation of Datadog. I suppose I dodged a bullet.
The first was a recruiter screen, followed by a programming assessment and then a hiring manager call - behavioral, mostly checking on your selling skills. Did not proceed further after that.
