I didn’t apply for the job directly. I met the team at a cloud summit and expressed my interest in working with Datadog. They connected me with the hiring manager. After two months of no communication, he finally scheduled a meeting to review my background. Unfortunately, it became clear he hadn’t even opened my resume prior to the conversation. His attitude was dismissive and condescending, and he undervalued my experience. He explicitly stated they were looking for someone with a prior background in tech, something he would have already known had he reviewed my resume. Instead, he gave me a lecture on how to break into the tech industry. I reminded him that this conversation was the result of my networking and communication skills. In the end, I’m actually glad the meeting happened. It gave me clarity, I’m certain I don’t want to work at Datadog, especially not under someone like him
