Haphazard, chaotic, no proper procedures - it was mostly based on the approval or otherwise of the editor. So it was a very subjective interview. I had very much the impression that my skills were not being judged but my ability to make friends with the interviewer -- which is a sign of inexperience.

One phone call, one group interview. Very short process, although they were thorough at checking references etc. I do not know how many candidates were involved, but process seemed reasonably cursory to me
