I was contacted by the studio manager on social media, inviting me to visit the local Delta Life Fitness studio to discuss a coaching opportunity they had. We met in person and chatted over the course of 45 minutes, discussing things such as my work history, certifications, passion for health and fitness, along with my interests in coaching (group fitness instruction). We toured the facility, observed an on-going class and discussed what makes Delta Life Fitness, special. Afterwards, the manager reviewed my general questions such as compensation, scheduling, outlining the interviewing and hiring process, etc. At the end, I was invited to return the following week to meet with the studios Head Coach for a second and final interview.
This secondary meeting was strictly an audition. I was asked to demo a mock Tabata style class before the GM, Head Coach and two other employees. This included an introduction, demo'ing 4 movements at two stations, moving into a self-created warm up, and then coaching for about 8 minutes during the workout, before we finished with our cool down stretching.
After the audition, I was provided with some initial feedback about my performance and was told I'd hear from them soon with a decision. The next day I received a call with a job offer.
