The first step was a call with the recruiter. She asked the usual questions about my CV and LinkedIn profile. However, she had trouble maintaining eye contact during our conversation. She explained the interview process and mentioned that the next stage would involve a system design problem. The next part was a system design task. I was asked to design a backend system to manage millions of images. The task involved creating a microservice-oriented architecture with features for inserting and retrieving images asynchronously. They scheduled the task for 2 hours, but I felt that was too short to complete it properly. I shared my available times, but the recruiter insisted on a specific time. Since I was free, I went with her suggested time. The instructions said that if I took longer than the allotted time, I should note how long I spent on the task. I worked on it for over 3 hours and mentioned this in my submission. I submitted the task on the same day. After submitting, I did not receive any feedback until the next week when I followed up. The recruiter then sent me a rejection email without any details or feedback about my task. I have concerns that DemoUp Cliplister might be using applicants' system design ideas for their own projects. I put a lot of effort into the task, and I believe it would have been fair for them to provide honest feedback. Overall, my interview experience at DemoUp Cliplister was disappointing. The process felt rushed, and the lack of feedback was frustrating. I hope the company improves their interview process in the future.
