I worked with a recruiter to first secure a phone interview, which was a "get-to-know" and understand skills interview. The woman in DC was great and cordial -- seemed to be a good boss. A few weeks later I was invited to an in-person interview at 4pm on a weekday afternoon during peak traffic in DTLA. I was told to expect it to last one hour. The partner in SD was meant to meet me at 4pm and he did not show up for the video conference for whatever absurd reason. We ended up connecting via phone at 4:15pm and spoke for 15 minutes -- he did not so much as have my resume before him, nor did he know what role I was applying for.
Then, the second partner I was meant to meet at 4:30pm was too running late. He was local to that office. He was very charming, but also very distracted. He invited me to do the interview in his office, and I sat in his office while he discussed a lateral candidate on a phone conference with others, and then at nearly 5pm he switched gears to speak to me. I had a young child and I was very grateful I had arranged childcare prior to the interview, because this partner kept me there until nearly 6pm.
I received an email from the SD partner after the interview thanking me, but then didn't hear a thing from this firm -- despite sending emails. My recruiter didn't hear anything at all, either. It was the most bizarre experience of my life and I could never recommend them.
