A laborious, sometimes tedious process.
Before the interview, there was a huge application form to fill in. Some questions required long form, 300-700 word answers. The application form also asked - stating it a precondition before any interview - for direct, workplace contact details for every employer over the last 5 years. Having worked in contract roles in addition to a permanent role in this time, it was very time consuming to get this.
Before the interview it was stated that academic certificates - the original copies - needed to be ready to be shown at the interview. Except during the interview, they didn't ask to see them.
The interview consisted of a 3 coding questions on a time limit, presenting my approach to a case study in PowerPoint, and the usual interview questions. The case study was very vague, so the presentation I made ended up being quite long given the number of unknowns that needed to be discussed. A large portion of it was essentially 'How Scrum Works' for a software project. No idea if that's what they were looking for, but the feedback was generally positive.
The job spec also gave the impression the starting salary would be within a stated range. However I found out during the interview that all new starters started at the bottom of this salary range in the job spec. It was a little misleading.
