I applied through other source. I interviewed at Din Tai Fung (Costa Mesa, CA) in July 2016
Interview
I found this job on Craigslist. Sent my resume and was asked to come in for interview. Came in and was asked to fill out application. Once application was completed I was led outside by a young 20 something year old man who conducted the interview outside the restaurant, standing in front the walkway to mall in 95 degree heat. The questions I was asked were about the other restaurants I worked for, like how many tables, how many tables per section, what was my favorite restaurant. I wasn't asked any questions about myself or any "regular" interview questions. Being asked to stand outside in the middle of an entrance to a mall was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional in my opinion. If I'm going to be treated like this in an interview then golly only knows how ill be treated once employed. Needless to say I emailed them immediately after the interview and told them to trash my resume and application.

I
was easy, didn't have to do to much. You have to be competent, though, the job is very labor-intensive and requires a lot of multitasking. They are the biggest restaurant in NYC after all.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Din Tai Fung (Vancouver, BC) in Mar 2025
Interview
The interview was located in a building in downtown. Everyone was given a time slot, so I did not have to wait long until it is my turn. The interview itself was quick and straightforward. It was really efficient. Interviewer was also really friendly.
