      Customer Experience Associate Interview

      4 July 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Lakewood, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Discord (Lakewood, CA) in Mar 2021

      Interview

The interview process was spread out within one month for me specifically. At first I thought that was a disadvantage but in reality it gave me time to really sit and reflect on the types of questions they were asking me - I started learning more about myself throughout this process. I know that sounds a little unique but that’s because the types of questions they asked me caused me to really question and solidify my beliefs and values as a person. Over time I started to realize that this process was built for both parties to learn more about each other and NOT just one way. You can really walk away from this experience (whether you get the offer or not) with some more insight on who you are as a person and the types of things you value within yourself and a prospective company. They focused on how I dealt with things personally - possibly to show how I handle situations where pressure is present or my social skills. I believe these are things that we are constantly working to improve on in or out of our working lives so it never hurts to reflect on these things either way! Use the resources they give you to learn about the company.. but also go out of your way to find extra things. I listened to podcasts where the CEO was a guest speaker, I read news articles, I observed their tone and habits on social media, and I exposed myself to the communities on the application to get a feel for what Discord is about both internally AND externally. I felt like it was imperative to display my passion in regards to how much I was willing to dedicate my time to learning about the position I was applying for - that ended up with me getting the role. I really want to emphasize that this interviewing process is unlike any interview I’ve ever been in. They really dig deep - some of my interviews even led me to opening up about personal things and that was a clear sign for me that I really trusted the process.. the environment was genuine and it hardly felt like a standard interview - it felt like getting to know someone (the personal aspect shows you how much they really care about getting to know you). If there’s anything I could advise to someone looking to apply: Be yourself! I never felt like I needed to tone it down or change my character … diversity is valued here and it speaks to their mission of creating space for belonging. ❤️

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Discord

      Interview

I always admired Discord and was very thrilled when I learned about a turk/rus customer experience associate position opening in Amsterdam office, so I applied for it. After some time Talent acquisition manager scheduled a call with me and we had a pretty nice chat about my experience and reasons for applying for the position. The conversation ended with them saying that they’d be excited to move my candidacy forward and we scheduled a call with a hiring manager. Chat with the hiring manager was ok, except that sometimes it felt a bit chaotic as I was interrupted quite often and the conversation was led off topic, although I had just about 30 minutes to tell about myself. The next day I got a rejection email with no explanation why I got rejected. And it would have been completely understandable, if after writing to them 2 times asking about feedback I received even a small reply with the reasons, however, I was completely ignored. This is such a big disappointment, because Discord has been my dream company and my experience seemed really suitable for this position, and after this interview process all I wanted was to have at least some feedback to help me improve my skills to fit in later…

      Interview

Applied online, received a call from the recruiter, then received a follow up email, then an interview with a hiring manager. Overall a good experience, questions that make you think about your future and if you will stay in the company and share their values. Experience with their platform as a user is obviously an advantage.

      Customer Experience Associate Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Discord (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2021

      Interview

Initial Hiring Screen with Recruiter -> Hiring Manager Zoom Call -> Skills Assessment -> Full Day Panel Interview. This process took around 2-3 months. Every interaction with the initial recruiter, to the recruiting coordinators and hiring manager has been exceptional. Everyone is super friendly and you can tell they all love what they do and all have a shared passion for the love of Discord. This was by far one of the most difficult interviews I've done and the only word of advice I recommend future interview-seekers is to be your true self. Do not put up a facade, be yourself.
