Applied, did my homework on company and their culture,, recruiter was quick, responsive and had a nice discussion on the phone interview. Went through an overview of the job, the works, there was time for questions from both sides and it was clear the recruiter felt like my experience would be helpful to the team.. Extremely solid and exceptional recruiter from beginning to mid way through. Interview with the hiring manager started pretty well, behavioral interview style - I was prepared with examples of projects I had performed and executed to, with metrics, etc. They HM chose to spend extra time on the call and then also seemed to become insecure. They told me that I’d be considered but not sure at what level. What struck me as odd was at the end when they said they did not have my pay expectations in front of them (is their ATS not dialed in?) and that they’d need more time to chat with the recruiter about where I could potentially plug in before I heard back. We parted with smiles agreeing that more time was needed. When I hopped off the virtual interview I found a rejection email had been sent to me before my interview ended. Sure it was a blow, but even though it didn’t add up I still sent a nice, quick, follow up email to the recruiter thanking them for their time, asking them to keep me posted on other openings. No reply. I recruit others professionally and have never rejected a candidate mid-interview while also telling them I’d need more time. Appears to be an unclear team on a few levels.
